About This Spot
Stepping into Restaurante Hermelinda Comida Guatemalteca along the vibrant stretch of Mission Street feels like finding a quiet, treasured corner of Guatemala right in the heart of San Francisco. The pace slows, allowing the warmth of genuine hospitality to settle in, a simple but comforting backdrop that invites you to linger. It’s the kind of place where familiar faces become part of the experience and newcomers find themselves returning for the ease and warmth found in every meal. Food was amazing. This is the most authentic Guatemalan food I have had in a while! You must try the tamales. They are DELICIOUS! Service was wonderful. The guy that served us the meals was very sweet and attentive.

Eat here before it gets crowded! New Guatemalan spot in the Mission, I never knew I needex Guatemalan food till now. Each plate comes with rice, salad, and tortillas w/ a drink and the plates come pretty full (and only $12)! Honestly a great deal and the food is amazing.

I think I ordered the costilla de res salsa verde (think being the operative word because I just pointed at something that looked good) and it was SO FIRE The plate came with fresh tortillas, black beans, rice, and a side veggie slaw thing—all for $14! With the chile relleno and agua fresca, my meal costed me $24 total. I felt like I was committing robbery. Despite the workers not speaking English, they were all super kind and attempted to explain my options. Next time, I’m definitely getting the soup. Or the other short rib!

Delicious chile relleno and fried plantain. Chicken tamale masa was soggy, but tasty.
